About Sheba
Sheba became part of our family after i removed her as a pup from someone who had been neglecting
her, she was just a few weeks old. At the time my youngest son was only 5mths old and they soon
became best buddies and to this day my son misses her and often talks about our Sheebs.
You were the perfect dog Sheebs and we treated you like a baby, you'd refuse to eat biscuits unless
they were broken up and hand fed to you. You loved laying on my lap, lifting my hand so i would
smooth your coat, you also loved coming up to bed and sleeping at my feet, sometimes getting under
the duvet. The only bad point about you was the fact you would run off if the front door was left
open and on occasions stay out for days, even in the pouring rain. You hated the fireworks didn't
you, you would cower and shake as soon as they started and the last bonfire night you were with us,
you managed to get out and ran for miles. You turned up at a farm and thankfully the landowner
contacted us and brought you home the next day.
You had a huge tumour on your leg but the vet said due to your age, it wouldn't be advisable to
operate. You became very slow, sleeping for most of the time and the vet had said... Take her home,
her heart is starting to fail! We kept you with us for as long as we could but we couldn't watch you
fight for breath any longer and decided to send you to Rainbow Bridge with your beloved Snuggles on
18th March 2006. It broke all our hearts to say goodbye to you Sheebs but you had suffered enough.
Sleep tight Sheebs and Snuggles, now you're together forever. xxxxxxx
About Snuggles
I chose you from a litter of 6wk old kittens from a lady who was looking for good homes. You were a
happy bundle of joy our Snugs and gave us 16yrs of companionship. You loved to sunbathe in the
garden and it was this habit that was to take your life. Your ears started crusting up and bleeding,
we took you to the vet who said you needed to have your ears amputated to save your life but the
operation would cost £500 and sadly we couldn't afford that. I telephoned many places to try and
get you the operation but no one was interested, not even the P.D.S.A even though i begged them to
help you. I bathed your ears four times a day for several weeks but they were getting worse, they
were now bleeding constantly and i couldn't put you through that any longer. I decided it was time
to send you to Rainbow bridge! On the day i cradled you in my arms and cried into your fur, you just
lay there looking up at me. I carried you into the vets and several people admired you, you were
beautiful. Your name was called and i began to sob, you made no fuss as i stood you on the table,
you seemed to understand what was happening, you didn't even cry out when the vet injected you, you
just looked up at me and fell asleep. I craddled you in my arms for the last time Snugs and gave you
a goodbye kiss.
I'm still calling your name Snugs, instead of Felix, Bumble, or Cuddles because i miss you so very
much.
Rest peacefully with our Sheebs now sweetheart... Together forever! xxxxx
Old Dogs Do Not Die
We have a secret you and I,
That no one else shall know,
For who but I can see you lie,
Each night, in fireglow?
And who but I can reach my hand
Before I go to bed,
And feel the living warmth of you
And touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths,
And see, ahead of me,
Your small form racing with the wind,
So young again, and free!
And only I can see you swim
In every brook I pass.
And, when I call, no one but I
Can see the bending grass.
